After a full day of walking around and learning about and experiencing history, we needed really good food to remain strong, so we got together with an Italian chef, and spent the next morning in her kitchen.
Yesterday I wanted ice cream but my dad said to be patient because the next day I'd get to have the best gelato ever, but that first we'd have to cook lunch!
Today was that day! We washed our hands, and started working!
First we did the gelato, because it needed time to cool off! I mixed all the ingredients and even chopped some of the strawberries. Like a good chef, I ate some along the way too.
After that we started making our own pasta, and even bruschetta! But the pasta was not like the hard one, that comes in a box. To make this one from scratch, we had to first make the dough. At home we sometimes pasta and even make pizza, but we buy the dough. Here we made sauce and the dough using our hands - uff that was a lot of squishing and kneading!
It was a great experience and we had a lot of fun! At the end they taught me how to cut the dough, and make fettuccine. The chef said that we had cut many types of pasta because they were all different widths and everyone laughed, but when it was time to eat, no one complained!
"It's delicious! I did the work! It's so good with the lemon! It's better than the one we eat back home!"
It was the best pasta and gelato I ever had!
