Due to a cancelled flight, we had to change our plans and ended up leaving Thailand one day earlier than initially planned, which is bad for Thailand because we spent less time there, but it's good for India because we will spend one more day here!
My mom was very curious about India! And my dad said everyone would treat me very well! Everyone has been very nice to me all throughout the trip already so I was excited!
"Mom, did you know that a king here, in India, is called a Maharaja? My dad told me that."
We landed in Jaipur late at night. They had these beautiful lights on the road that made up the India flag, and they were everywhere!
We stayed at an old palace in Jaipur. The Maharaja used to live here! When I woke up, there was a peacock on the terrace. There were so many that you couldn't look in any direction without seeing one!
The place was beautiful! They had old swords and spears, and paintings of the old Maharaja and every meal was a feast of colors, flavors and spices.
The pool here used to have a swing that the Maharaja used to jump into the water. They don't have the swing anymore, but the pools were still there and were pretty fun!
In the afternoon I played crocket and they let me 'drive' a horse carriage and feed the peacocks with the friends I made in the pool.
And at night we learned about Indian history, culture and music, and I learned how to play new instruments - the tabla, which is a drum; and the dulcimer, which is like half xylophone half piano!
I truly felt like a Maharaja, but my dad said that it's important to understand that there's more to India than this palace, and that its true beauty lies in its people and that in the upcoming days I'd get to experience that as well.
